The name originated in Thiers, France at the beginning of the 1800s. The area of Thiers has been associated with the cutlery industry since the Middle Ages. Knives from this region are considered to be amongst some of the best in the world. The original Sabatier knife is fully forged and finnished off with the classic 3 rivet black handle design.
